Dol Llys Ancient Tree Trail

-Head through the campsite and to a gate on the left into the large grazed field and your first veteran tree - a magnificent horse chestnut.

- In the next field look out for an ancient oak. Here you can read about why we have fenced off the wet area for natural regeneration.

- From these gates next to the new hedge, you can take the shorter route on the left back to the campsite.

- For the longer route, continue up the field. Look out for the gate which leads onto the road and be careful as you head right up the lane.

- When you arrive at two gates on your left, walk through the right hand gate and head uphill, towards the wood pasture on the horizon.

- Read about why the pigs are grazing in this area. You can go left here, along the boundary, and take a longer route on the Severn Way footpath towards Allt Goch (the town woods).

- To stick to the tree trail, head across the fields and through two gates. Walk down towards an ancient ash tree

- Stick to the edge of the field and marvel at the magnificent ancient oak in the middle.

- Continue along the field edge to the gate and cross the road into the next field and back to the campsite.
